What tools will I use in the Electrical Fundamentals course?

You will use digital multimeters, clamp meters, non-contact voltage testers, and wiring diagram reference materials. All tools are provided during class. A recommended personal tool list is shared before the course starts.

Will I learn to read wiring diagrams for specific equipment brands?

Yes. The course uses real wiring diagrams from Hobart, Vulcan, Hoshizaki, and Manitowoc equipment. You will learn to trace circuits, identify components by symbol, and use diagrams to isolate faults — the same workflow used on every service call.

No prior experience is required. Our courses are designed for complete beginners as well as restaurant staff who want to formalize their skills. The Electrical Fundamentals course is a great starting point if you have no technical background.

How much does each course cost?

Each individual course is $1,000. The full 12-week training program, which covers all nine equipment types, is $12,000. Financing options are available through partners including Climb Credit, Meritize, Georgia WIOA, and SNAP E&T.

Each course runs for one week of intensive, hands-on instruction. Classes meet Monday through Friday at our Atlanta training center at 510 Jones Ave NW.

What certification do I receive after completing a course?

Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion in Commercial Kitchen Equipment Repair from Metro Star Mechanical Training Center. The 12-week program also prepares students for EPA 608 certification (required for refrigerant handling) and CFESA industry credentials.

Class sizes are capped at 25 students to ensure every student gets hands-on time with the equipment. Seats fill quickly — we recommend enrolling at least 4 weeks before your target start date.
